Topic: Leveraging AI for Effective Targeting in Humanitarian Aid

Join GiveDirectly for a workshop on innovative AI/ML applications in humanitarian aid targeting. We will present the CIDER methodology, which uses mobile phone metadata to identify individuals in poverty and improve the efficiency of cash assistance programs. Through case studies from Bangladesh and Malawi, we will highlight the benefits of AI in rapidly identifying aid recipients. The session will also address responsible AI practices and invite participants to discuss ethical principles for AI use in the sector.
