Emily Springer, Top 100 Women in AI Ethics™ 2024
Dr. Emily Springer, recognized among the Top 100 Women in AI Ethics™ in 2024 and part of UNESCO’s Women 4 Ethical AI platform, is an inclusive AI consultant. Running TechnoSocio Advisory, she specializes in sociotechnical understandings of AI, inclusive build processes, end user research (acceptance and testing), staff training and change management, and AI strategy, impact assessment, and risk mitigation. She champions the participation of non-technical professionals in AI innovation, offering on-demand and custom AI literacy training through TheInclusiveAILab.com. With extensive experience consulting for organizations like UNFPA and Data2X, she works to address issues like technology-facilitated gender-based violence and promote gender-inclusive AI. Emily holds a PhD in Sociology and Development Studies and an Ed.M. in International Education Policy. Previously, at a Microsoft partner, she built automation solutions for enterprise clients; with IFC, facilitated digital transformation strategic planning for African universities; and, as an academic sociologist, trained graduate students in Development Practice and Social Justice. As a member of the International Association of Algorithmic Auditors, she is eager to ensure AI benefits all peoples.
